A 30-year-old woman was reported dead at the scene after her car sideswiped another vehicle and ended up in a ditch.

It was reported by Louisville Metro Police that a Shepherdsville woman died on Kentucky Route 1065, along Outer Loop. This happened when her 2012 Chevrolet Malibu left its passing lane just after the bridge over I-65, hitting another car. Then, the two cars plunged into a ditch on the exit lane of Outer Loop.

According to LMPD’s report, the woman who was the only person in the Malibu died at the scene of the crash. It was not known whether she was wearing a seat belt or if answering a phone call was a factor in the crash. It was also not known if alcohol was the cause of the crash.  The accident remains under investigation.

According to an eyewitness report, the deceased crossed into another lane and sideswiped a 2002 Hyundai Electra. The Hyundai was driven by a woman, 23, of Jefferson County.  After the crash the Chevrolet Malibu sped into the guardrail and then swerved into a ditch. The Hyundai Electra driver tried to maintain control but also eventually ended up in the ditch with minimal impact. The driver and her passenger were transported to the hospital due to complaints of pain in the back, limbs and head.
