A 42 year-old woman died after a car crash on Jennings Lane near Watterson Park, a Louisville Metro Police Department spokeswoman said.
According to an eyewitness report, a Ford truck sped into the Jennings Ln intersection from Bishop Ln, slid out and hit the curb and rolled over. As it rolled over it struck an oncoming Nissan Versa hatchback. The hatchback, driven by a 42 year-old woman, got stuck with the truck as both drifted off the road.
The truck was driven by a 33 year-old man. The driver of the truck and his 24 year-old female passenger sustained severe injuries from the crash, police said.
As reported, the people in the truck got stuck inside it. The rescue team at the scene had to work hard to free them from the confines of the crashed vehicle.
It was also reported that after the accident happened, first emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash within minutes. The 3 victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. The woman that drove the Hatchback was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
There is traffic at Jennings Ln at the moment due to the severity of the crash. It is best to use an alternate route.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “This a serious and tragic accident that appears to be caused from a driver speeding. We hope that everyone involved in this accident isn’t too badly hurt and that they have a speedy recovery.”
