According to Louisville Metro Police, a blue Chevy Malibu 2012 ran into an ambulance on Jefferson Blvd., while the ambulance was on its way to a gas station.
A Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson stated that a 35-year-old man crashed into an ambulance near McCawley Road. The ambulance was on its way to refill at the nearby gas station when the crash occurred. The 45-year-old man who was driving the ambulance called in for emergency help after the accident happened, the spokesperson said.
The Malibu reportedly collided with the ambulance at the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and McCawley Road. LMPD stated that the front part of the Malibu was severely damaged, and the windshield was smashed.
Consequently, authorities stated that the driver and the passenger of the Chevy sustained severe injuries. According to the emergency crew, there are signs of fractures and/or dislocation to the arm and hip of the driver of the car. Additionally, it was reported that the driver of the ambulance also suffered injuries. First responders transported the victims to a nearby hospital in another ambulance.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
