Law enforcement officials reported a traffic accident on State Road 836 in Miami involving a semi and a Honda Civic. Two people suffered critical injuries in the crash and EMS rushed them to the hospital.
According to the news release, the crash happened when the driver of a semi-truck that was driving southbound collided with a Honda Civic, while attempting to make a U-turn. Police said the Honda Civic had two occupants; paramedics immediately rushed both individuals to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
EMS arrived at the scene and administered on-site first aid to the driver of the semi, who also received injuries in the crash. He fully cooperated with the officials.
Authorities advised motorists to take alternative routes due to delays from the crash. Police have reopened the road.
The semi driver will likely face charges. No other details were released.
