A Stuart woman severely injured after she was hit by a pickup truck while riding her bicycle, the Boston Police said.
According to a report by the Police spokesman, the crash took place on Columbia Road. The Ford F-150 STX SuperCab swerved off the passing lane when the car in front of it suddenly slowed down. It then struck a sedan in the right lane and the two vehicles crashed by the roadside, hitting the bicycle.
The authorities reported that the rider lost control of the bicycle after being sideswiped by the pickup truck. The bicycle fell over and she was thrown causing severe injuries.
The rescue team arrived at the site of the crash soon after it happened. They first attended to the woman who was riding the bicycle to stop the bleeding from her right leg. It was also reported that she possibly suffered a dislocation on her left hip. She was also complaining of pain to her neck and back. She was transported to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the truck was not injured. The driver of the sedan complained of whiplash and pain caused from the sudden impact by the truck. The Boston Police Department said the crash is still being investigated.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “Far too often in our practice we treat patients in our practice that were injured from a bicycle accident. Many times these accidents were caused by a driver of a car or truck. We hope that the investigation is quickly finished and that the injuries aren’t too severe. If you are unsure of what to do when you’ve been involved in an accident, please give our team a call. We can treat your injuries and also, if you wish, refer you to a very competent attorney in case you have a legal claim. Since we are NOT an attorney referral service, we have no interest in your legal claim beyond trying to help you obtain the best attorney to help you.”
