Law enforcement officials in Miami reported a collision between a school bus and a dump truck on Interstate 264 that left the driver of the school bus critically injured.
According to the news release, the crash occurred when the driver of a dump truck collided with a school bus packed with students on a field trip. Authorities are not certain what led to the collision presently, although they cited speed as a likely factor. Consequently, the driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries.
EMS arrived at the scene of the crash to administer on-site first aid to the victims, many of whom were students. The driver of the bus sustained critical injuries, and paramedics transported the driver to the hospital as a trauma alert.
Police are conducting a thorough investigation.
