A red pickup reportedly lost control on the 1828 block of William J Day Blvd and hit a school bus full with children.
According to police report, the 34-year-old man driving the pickup truck lost control near Columbia Yacht Club. Then it swerved towards the oncoming school bus. This crash suddenly occurred when the truck was speeding down this path, police said. It collided with the front part of the bus head-on until the two came to a halt
Emergency crew arrived at the site of the crash early after it happened. The driver of the pickup truck reportedly sustained injuries. It was reported that he was immobile after the crash happened. However, from the report given by the crew, the injuries sustained were not life-threatening.
The average age of the 18 children in the school bus was reported to be 15 years. It was reported that 5 juveniles sustained minor injuries when they were thrown off their seat after the crash. They may have had neck, back, and elbow injuries from the impact. The driver of the school bus did not sustain any visible injuries but he was complaining of neck and back pain.
