Two cars crashed in southwest Louisville, killing one person and injuring four others, Louisville Metro Police Department said.

Louisville Metro Police investigators say that the driver was attempting to turn onto Greenbelt Highway from a stop sign. This was what led to the cars slamming into each other. The two cars crashed in southwest Louisville.  It happened on  Greenbelt Highway at Ashby Lane, according to MetroSafe.  On the arrival of the emergency crews it was found that one of the drivers involved in the crash had died.

The police further elaborated that the driver’s side of the car had the most impact while trying to turn. The three people still alive in the other car were also rushed to the hospital in varying conditions. According to the police, some of their injuries were minor but at least one person suffered “very serious” injuries.  It was reported that one of the injured was complaining of lower leg pain in there knees and ankles.  The passenger in that car was rushed to University Hospital in serious condition.

The driver who died has not been identified.   At this point, police do not believe either driver was impaired.  All lanes of the Greenbelt Highway are shutdown as the LMPD Traffic Unit investigates the scene, MetroSafe reported.

Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash.  “It’s unfortunate that there were this many injuries and one death from an accident like this.  We hope that the investigation is quickly finished and that the injuries to those that survived this crash aren’t too severe.  If you are unsure of what to do when you’ve been involved in an accident, please give our team a call.  We can treat your injuries and also, if you wish, refer you to a very competent attorney in case you have a legal claim.  Since we are NOT an attorney referral service, we have no interest in your legal claim beyond trying to help you obtain the best attorney to help you.”
