According to the Immokalee Fire Control District one person has died and two others were injured after a three-car crash on SR 29 and Oil Well Road.
According to the Florida Highway patrol, a man was driving a Toyota Camry in the southbound lane of SR 29 when he swerved into oncoming traffic in the northbound lane. The Camry struck a 54-year-old man named Juana Hernadez who was driving a vehicle headed northbound. The driver of a third vehicle was also unable to avoid the wreck and colliding with one of the stopped vehicles.
Hernadez was taken to Lee Memorial after sustaining critical injuries. The driver of the third car sustained only minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital. The man in the Toyota Camry died from his injuries, officials say.
According to FHP the driver of the Camry reportedly had been drinking alcohol. That driver’s details were not released to the public and the incident is still under investigation.
