LMPD stated that two teenagers and two adult passengers were seriously injured in an accident along Preston Hwy (KY-61).
The accident happened northbound on Preston Hwy when a 2007 Lincoln LS driven by a 35-year-old woman rolled and crashed her vehicle. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department there were four occupants in the vehicle when the crash happened. Police said the Lincoln passengers included two teenagers, aged 18 and 19, and a 27-year-old man.
First emergency responders reportedly arrived at the site of the accident minutes after the crash happened. Upon arrival first aid treatment was administered to all victims on the scene. The driver of the vehicle suffered head and an arm injury. The 27-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries to the hip and chest.
The victims of the crash have been transported to a hospital in the area for treatment.
Police explained that the accident was caused when a bird flew into the windshield of the vehicle causing the driver to lose control.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, commented on the crash. “It’s tragic whenever you see an accident that involves children. We are grateful that no fatalities occurred in the incident and we hope that everyone involved in this accident has a speedy recovery. Injuries do not always have obvious signs when they are sustained. Neck and back injuries are notoriously difficult to spot and can flare up days or weeks after someone has them.”
