One person is left with a severed arm and another badly injured following a violent motorcycle crash in Southwest Miami-Dade. The incident happened in front of a McDonald’s at Southwest 122nd Avenue and 8th Street.
Two motorcycles were racing eastbound on 8th street when they collided with a vehicle, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials. One suffered back injury on impact, and the other had his arm severely injured. The victim’s bike came to a screeching halt on the sidewalk, while his body landed more than a hundred feet down the street.
Witnesses say many bystanders rushed to help the motorcyclists, including workers at a nearby McDonald’s who ran out with bags of ice to try to preserve the severed arm.
“He was groaning in pain as loud as he could, he wasn’t saying anything,” said one person who witnessed the crash. “I don’t think he could even think, he could barely respond.”
Officials said both victims were airlifted to the hospital as a trauma alert. The victims’ conditions are unknown at this time. According to eyewitnesses, both men are in their twenties and were both wearing helmets.
