According to authorities, Krome Avenue near Southwest 8th Street in Miami was closed after an accident which left a mother of three critically injured.
Law enforcement officials say the driver of a Toyota Tacoma was driving in the far right lane going the wrong way when she sideswiped another vehicle. The driver then continued along it’s path and collided head-on with a vehicle conveying a woman and her three children.
Officials added that EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims. Emergency crews reported that the woman was critically injured while her three children sustained various degrees of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma was also critically injured in the crash. According to reports the driver in the Tacoma and the woman along with her three children were taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
Authorities did not give an official statement saying why the first vehicle lost control and say the incident is still under investigation as they look into the actual cause of the crash.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “Rear-end accidents are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. Often, when a person is rear-ended they are completely taken off-guard and have not had an opportunity to brace for an impact. Rear-end accidents often lead to serious back and neck injuries. We hope that those involved receive the proper medical care.”
