A 28-year-old woman sustained severe injuries after she was struck by a pickup truck while riding her bicycle, Louisville Police said.
It was reported that the woman lost control of her bicycle when the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck sideswiped her. She was reportedly thrown off the bicycle into the shoulder of the road. According to Louisville Metro Police Department, the woman sustained severe injuries, though non-life-threatening.
The accident happened on Fegenbush Ln, near Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery, reported local authorities. Information from the accident report said that the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 truck swerved and drifted from its lane. The reason for this action has not yet been identified. After the car sideswiped the bicyclist the truck then hit the guardrail by the side of the road and came to a halt.
The emergency crew arrived at the site of the accident shortly after the crash. There they found that the bicyclist was injured. She reportedly had injuries to her right leg. It was later reported that she suffered a dislocation on her right knee. The driver of the pickup truck also sustained minor injuries to the head and back. He was treated at the site of the accident.
At the moment, no charge have been filed by the authorities, and the accident is still being investigated.
