One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Miami Beach involving a semi truck and a Dodge pickup truck, the Miami Police Department reported.
According to authorities, the crash happened on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. Miami Beach Police Department said the semi ran a stop light and rear ended a Dodge pickup truck. The driver of the pickup suffered a whiplash injury as a result of the sudden acceleration-deceleration movement by the truck caused by the impact of the crash.
Paramedics arrived shortly after the accident happened. On quick medical assessment, the injured pickup driver had numbness in the arm and hand. He was unable to move his neck as well. Paramedics put him in a cervical collar before carefully placing him in the ambulance and transporting him to the hospital.
The semi driver was issued a citation for disregarding a traffic signal resulting in a motor vehicle accident. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
No further information is available.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “This is a serious accident in Miami Beach. It is never positive when a truck strikes a car. Commercial truck drivers are more heavily regulated than personal car drivers. If you are unsure of what to do when you’ve been involved in an accident, please give our team a call. We can treat your injuries and also, if you wish, refer you to a very competent attorney in case you have a legal claim. Since we are NOT an attorney referral service, we have no interest in your legal claim beyond trying to help you obtain the best attorney to help you.”
