A Miami Dade man suffered a neck injury in a crash in Southwest Miami, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Alvaro Feola, a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, said a man, 29, was driving his 2013 Mercedes-Benz on SW 8th Street just after midnight when he lost control of his car and crashed into a light pole and then a tree.
“The sudden acceleration-deceleration movement of the car caused the driver’s head to rapidly move forward and backward in quick succession. This led to the whiplash injury and neck pain he sustained,” Feola added.
He was found immobile at the scene and trapped in his car, Feola said. He was freed from the trapped car after first emergency responders arrived. Rescue crews arrived shortly after the vehicle accident occurred, extricated the victim using Jaws of Life and transported him to the hospital.
No other vehicle was involved in the crash. Work is in progress to clear the debris caused by the wreck. The crash is under investigation.
