Boston police office reports a 26-year-old man struck by a car and dragged along the road on Humboldt Avenue in Boston.
According to police: Officers arrived at Humboldt Avenue after receiving a 911 call and found the dragged man lying on the pavement with severe injuries. The incident report states that the driver was traveling from Dudley Square through the intersection of Walnut and Humboldt Avenues. The driver told the police that he reportedly saw what he thought was a trash bag in the road. As he drove over the object he told police that it felt as though the vehicle had hit snow or ice.
The driver said that he then noticed that the vehicle was moving awkwardly while he was approaching Seaver Street. He then decided to pull over and upon inspection he discovered a man under his vehicle. The driver told officers that he then backed the vehicle off of the victim and called police.
The victim sustained severe injuries and was later flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital. Authorities say he is expected to recover from his injuries.
The accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, commented on the crash. “We hope that the injured man who was run over has a speedy recovery.
