A Louisville man hospitalized after crashing his tractor-trailer in a fiery accident on US Route 31W in Louisville, State Police said.
Police stated that the tractor-trailer was travelling along Dixie Hwy when it crashed on US31W. After driving south in a 2015 Freightliner truck, the 49-year-old man veered off to the side of the road. Subsequently, the cab of the truck caught fire after the accident occurred, police said. Authorities have not revealed the cause of the crash.
First emergency responders and the fire rescue team arrived at the scene of the accident where they found the other occupants of the tractor-trailer lying on the side of the road. According to the emergency crew, the operator was severely injured; he had blood stains all over his clothes. Consequently, both men were taken to U of L Hospital for their injuries. They may have had head, back, hip, and leg injuries.
It was reported that police shut down the roadway for about an hour and a half. Traffic was diverted through the rest area. However, all lanes have reopened.
Officials are investigating the cause of the crash.
