38-year-old Jason Dewayne Shelton and 2 passengers were transported to a nearby hospital as reported by the Boston Police Department.
According to a BPD’s report, the tanker truck driver apparently lost control of the truck, leading to a crash. The truck jackknifed on the road and ended up flipping on its side. After the truck flipped it started leaking fuel on Massachusetts Turnpike and I-90 near Oak Square.
Meanwhile, according to the authorities, a Mazda MPV ran headlong into the crash. The driver of the MPV and the passenger sustained injuries. It was also reported that Shelton sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. It was reported that one of the victims was complaining of leg and shoulder pain. First emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash soon after the accident happened.
Fire Rescue team is also on scene, taking measures against fire incidence. Authorities say traffic will be delayed for several hours while the leaking fuel can be secured, and the vehicles can be up-righted and taken off the road.
Boston Police Department spokesman says, “In incidences like this, traffic delays cannot be avoided. Expect traffic delays of several hours until the fuel leak can be secured and vehicles turned upright. This will be a long and protracted incident. Drivers should be very patient or seek alternative routes.” The crash is still being investigated.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “It is unfortunate to see this major accident with injuries on the Mass Turnpike. We hope that their injuries are too severe. If you are unsure of what to do when you’ve been involved in an accident, please give our team a call. We can treat your injuries and also, if you wish, refer you to a very competent attorney in case you have a legal claim. Since we are NOT an attorney referral service, we have no interest in your legal claim beyond trying to help you obtain the best attorney to help you.”
