A Hummer SUV struck the rear of a white Chevy Malibu on Newburg Rd resulting in severe injuries, LMPD says.
It was reported that this accident took place on KY-1703, Newburg Road. According to Louisville Metro Police Department, the Hummer was driving behind the Malibu at a high rate of speed. The Malibu, driven by a 31-year-old man slowed down while approaching the traffic light, according to the driver’s statement. The Hummer then struck the car while still traveling at a fairly high speed, apparently not noticing the Malibu’s brake lights.
This crash reportedly led to both vehicles sustaining heavy damage in the crash. Even with the extra heavy duty design of the Hummer it wasn’t able to be driven after the crash.
Police were at the site of the crash for several hours. They were there to investigate the crash and coordinate traffic flow.
Three people were involved in this incidence, both drivers and the passenger in the Hummer SUV. They may have been injured on the head, hip, and back. They were reportedly taken to a nearby hospital.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “This was an accident that had two cars violently crash into each other. We hope tha t the injuries to those involved aren’t too serious and they have a fast recovery.”
