A Hialeah police cruiser was involved in a single-vehicle crash leading to a serious head injury, authorities said.
The early morning crash happened at East Third Street and East Fourth Avenue in Hialeah in Miami-Dade County. The cruiser appeared to have crashed into a tree.
First emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash happened. Hialeah police Lt. Eddie Rodriguez reported that only the cruiser was involved in the crash. He said the officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with serious life-threatening head injuries.
Rodriguez said the cause of the crash remains under investigation and no other details will be released until the investigation is complete.
Several lanes were blocked during the police investigation snarling traffic. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “We never want to see those that protect us involved in an accident with injuries. But with the millions of miles that law enforcement drives during their patrols. accidents will happen. We hope that the officers injuries aren’t too severe and he quickly recovers. If you are unsure of what to do when you’ve been involved in an accident, please give our team a call. We can treat your injuries and also, if you wish, refer you to a very competent attorney in case you have a legal claim. Since we are NOT an attorney referral service, we have no interest in your legal claim beyond trying to help you obtain the best attorney to help you.”
