Law enforcement officials say that a man who was suspected to be driving under the influence has been taken into police custody after he crashed his car into another vehicle on the American Legion Highway

Boston Accident

Reports said the accident happened when a 22-year-old man lost control of his vehicle as he drove at a high rate of speed on the American Legion Highway. The man was driving a Dodge Charger when he swerved into the wrong side of the road on Hyde Park Avenue. A witness said the Dodge driver appeared to be on drugs or under the influence of alcohol due to the reckless way he drove.

Police say he ran a red light at an intersection and crashed into a black Pontiac leaving the riders in the car severely injured. Authorities did not give an official statement saying why the vehicle lost control and they say the incident is still under investigation as they look into the actual cause of the crash.

EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims. Emergency crews reported that the two occupants of the black Pontiac were in critical condition after the  collision. They were both immobile and unconscious when rescue workers arrived. First responders swiftly rescued them and transferred them to a nearby hospital.

Officials said the Dodge driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to the nearest medical center to be treated where he stayed in police custody.

No further details are available as at the time of writing this report.
