Highway Patrol in Louisville reported one person was killed and four people were severely injured in a multi-vehicle accident on Henry Watterson Expy (I-264).

The fatal crash involved two cars and a semi-truck on Henry Watterson Expy (I-264), authorities said. It was also reported that the front wheel of a Toyota Camry malfunctioned while in motion on the highway. In that instant, the 34-year-old driver of the Camry lost control of the car and it swerved out of its lane, police said.

When it swerved out of it’s lane, an oncoming semi-truck sideswiped the driver side of the car. After the semi-truck hit the Camry, the operator of the semi-truck reportedly swerved rapidly and also struck an oncoming Lexus.

First emergency responders arrived at the site just a few moments after the crash. Four people were reported to have sustained serious injuries, while the semi-truck driver’s injuries were non-life threatening. Major injuries the other victims suffered were of the head, back, chest and legs.

All the victims of the crash have been transported to a local hospital for treatment where The driver of the Camry was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital, police said.
