A female driver was injured on Interstate 75 near Northwest 138th Street and Hialeah Gardens Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash was reported by eye witnesses.
The woman was seriously injured after the BMW car she was traveling in went off the highway and hit a guardrail, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. She suffered an injury to the head and neck and also had an injury to one arm. She is reported to be unconscious and in a critical condition at the time of filing of this report. Police have not identified the injured woman. They said she was in her twenties.
First emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash happened. The female driver was taken to a Regional Medical Center in Miami, said FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky. The FHP is investigating the cause of the crash. No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
The crash kept a portion of I-75 closed throughout the morning commute, affecting thousands of drivers heading to Miami-Dade County. No additional information was available.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “At this time we don’t know the reason the BMW driver lost control of her car and hit the guardrail. It was reported that she had some very serious injuries. We hope that she seeks proper medical care and recovers quickly. Please keep our streets safe and never do anything while driving that will distract you.”
