Law enforcement officials say that a motorcycle and an SUV collided in a fatal crash in Southwest Miami-Dade leaving the motorcyclist dead.
According to Miami-Dade Police, they say an SUV and a motorcycle collided at the intersection of Southwest 115th Street and 137th Avenue.
EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims. Emergency crews reported that the collision resulted in the death of the motorcyclist at the scene of the crash.
Reports also says the SUV sustained extensive damage on the passenger side. No word yet if the driver of the SUV sustained any injury in the crash.
Police did not give an official statement saying who was at fault in the accident and they are currently investigating the incident to find out what was the actual cause of the crash. Southwest 112th Street and 137th Avenue going northbound were shut down until the roadway was cleared of wreckage and debris from the collision.
Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “Rear-end accidents are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. Often, when a person is rear-ended they are completely taken off-guard and have not had an opportunity to brace for an impact. Rear-end accidents often lead to serious back and neck injuries. We hope that those involved receive the proper medical care.”
