A couple has been hospitalized in a crash after a driver ran a red light at Walworth Street.
The accident happened when the couple traveled north on Washington Street in a 2014 Ford Focus Titanium. Subsequently, they continued through the intersection at Florida Boulevard on a green light.
Meanwhile, a 2007 Toyota Avalon driver on Walworth Street attempted to go through the same intersection on a red light. According to a police spokesperson, the Toyota slightly hit the front of a Chrysler. The Toyota driver then swerved and consequently struck the driver’s side of the Ford.
According to the report, five people were involved in this accident: the couple in the Ford car, the sole occupant of the Toyota car, and two occupants in the Chrysler car.
The occupants of the Chrysler did not suffer injuries. However, the driver of the Toyota Avalon sustained minor injuries and paramedics treated the driver at the scene. Meanwhile, the Ford couple suffered critical injuries and paramedics rushed them to the hospital on a life support system.
Charges are pending following the completion of the police investigation.
