Authorities say a pickup truck reportedly lost control on Blue Hill Avenue and struck a school bus head-on.
Police said the pickup truck was driven by a 39-year-old man driving at a high rate of speed on Blue Hill Avenue . It was reported that he lost control near a Shell Gas Station and swerved towards an oncoming school bus. It collided head-on with the bus that was carrying 17 children.
Emergency Medical Services arrived immediately at the site of the accident to attend to injured victims. Officials say the driver of the pickup truck was immobile after the crash and sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities say that 10 out of the 17 teenagers in the bus sustained various injuries and the driver of the school bus was also hurt. Police have not released the identities of the victims involved in the accident. All of the injured were transported to the nearest medical center for treatment.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, commented on the crash. “We are sorry to hear about this two-vehicle accident in Boston that left 10 children injured. It can be scary when children are involved in an accident, and their parents are not there to comfort them. It’s always a good idea to seek medical treatment following a crash. We hope that everyone involved in this accident has a speedy recovery.”
