According to Louisville Emergency Medical Service, a man on a bike is in critical condition after being hit by a car.
Police said the accident happened when a 2012 Toyota Avalon struck the bike rider from the rear. A witness reported to the police that the bike rider, a 32-year-old man, was knocked off his vehicle due to the impact. The extent of the crash was minimal due to the low speed of the two vehicles at the time.
Authorities said the Avalon driver, a 23-year-old man had lost control of the car and hit the bike rider. The cause of this is not clear; however an officer opined that the driver was distracted while behind the wheel and not paying full attention to the road. The driver was not injured in the accident.
The bike rider has been transported to a nearby medical center for treatment. Meanwhile the driver of the car is detained for questioning and further investigation.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, commented on the crash. “We are sorry to hear about this accident that placed a bike rider in a critical condition here in Louisville.
