Police’s spokesman report that a Sports Utility Vehicle crashed into a school bus from behind on Barret Avenue leading to several injuries in Louisville.
According to the report a 34-year-old man crashed his 2014 BMW X3 into a school bus on Barret Ave near the Marathon Gas Station. A witness said the SUV driver seemed distracted before he collided with the school bus that was stopped at the stop sign in front of him. Police spokesman did not. Law enforcement did not say why the 34-year-old man rear-ended the bus and no other details about the actual collision were released.
Police reported that the driver of the SUV was in critical condition after the crash while his passenger sustained serious injuries as well. Reported injuries were to the neck, shoulder, back, arm and hip, police spokesman said. There were five children and a 42-year-old driver in the school bus when the accident happened. Luckily only two of the occupants in the bus sustained injuries during the accident. Two of the children received only minor injuries and they are expected to fully recover.
Upon arrival EMS transported the two severely injured occupants of the SUV to a nearby hospital. The two children that sustained minor injuries were treated at the site of the crash by emergency services.
No further details were released by authorities and the accident is still under investigation.
