March 23, 2018 The Accident and Injury Team

An unidentified woman was severely injured after being dragged by an SUV, State Police report.

Authorities reported that the accident happened following a crash at East Somerville. The victim’s vehicle was involved in a crash with a 2011 Jeep Patriot. According to the report, the 23-year-old woman was dragged about a quarter of a mile by the SUV. The woman, who has not been identified by police, was dragged on Broadway Road, through East Somerville.

Subsequent to the initial collision, the woman reportedly got out of her car and approached the driver of the Jeep. A witness reported that the woman initiated a conversation about the crash with the other driver, an unidentified Malden man, 35 years old. However, as this was going on, the man drove off with the woman “attached” to his vehicle. The report stated that she eventually broke free from the Jeep on Maffa Way, near the Cambridge Street exit.

Consequently, authorities stopped and held the driver of the Jeep. Meanwhile, Emergency Medical Services transported the woman to Boston Medical Center. It was reported that she was severely injured as a result of the dragging incident.

The cause of the crash and the dragging incident are still under investigation.
