Police stated that two young adult women were involved in a severe accident while traveling north on I-64, near Eastwood.
Louisville Metro Police reported that a Chevrolet Malibu was found crashed into the woods off I-64, near Marshall Playground. Police spokesman confirmed that a call came in reporting this accident on the highway.
As reported, first emergency responders were sighted at the scene of the accident. The woman that drove the car was in unconscious and the passenger was immobile when the officials arrived. They were both reportedly transported to the hospital after being resuscitated. They had sustained internal injuries as well as back and neck injuries which needed urgent medical attention, police added.
A witness reportedly said the woman could have lost control because she was distracted or possibly she was dozing off while behind the wheel. “However, it is not clear what actually happened to her that made her swerve off the highway so suddenly,” the witness said.
The authorities reported that the cause of the crash still remains unknown. The crash is still being investigated.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “It is not clear whether the driver that caused this accident was distracted or had a medical emergency while behind the wheel. Hopefully it can be quickly discovered. We also hope that the injuries to all involved in this crash are not too severe and they have a speedy recovery.”
