Law enforcement officials reported a rear-end accident on Southwest 184th avenue in Miami that left two officers injured after their vehicle was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Impala.
According to the news release by officials, they say the incident happened when two police officers were responding to an accident, that happened earlier, on Southwest 184th avenue in Miami when they struck from behind by the driver of a Chevrolet Impala.
Officials did not say why the Chevrolet Impala lost control and hit the officer’s vehicle. The incident is still under investigation as authorities look into the cause of the crash.
EMS arrived to the scene of the accident soon after it happened to administer on-site first aid to the injured victims in the incident. Emergency crews reported that both of the officers suffered critical injuries in the collision. The two men were stabilized before they were taken to the nearby hospital by abulance.
The driver of the Chevy was reportedly not injured in the crash and remained at the scene of the crash to be questioned by police. Troopers say the crash remains an active investigation, meanwhile the names of the officers were not released at the time of this report.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “Rear-end accidents are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. Often, when a person is rear-ended they are completely taken off-guard and have not had an opportunity to brace for an impact. Rear-end accidents often lead to serious back and neck injuries. We hope that those involved receive the proper medical care.”
