Police said the driver of the SUV, a man identified to be in his 6o’s, died at the hospital from his injuries.
The two people inside the stolen truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries and have been detained by the police for questioning.
Northwest 34th street was shut down between 13th Avenue and 15th Avenue as officials and emergency crews worked to clear the accident scene. Officials say the incident is still under investigation and no further details were released.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “Rear-end accidents are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. Often, when a person is rear-ended they are completely taken off-guard and have not had an opportunity to brace for an impact. Rear-end accidents often lead to serious back and neck injuries. We hope that those involved receive the proper medical care.”
