An elderly woman was injured in a collision on I-75 in Miami where she was hit from behind while driving.
In a report by law enforcement officials the accident was reported to have happened on I-75 where an elderly woman driving a Nissan car was suddenly rear-ended by another vehicle. The force of the collision caused the woman to lose control and she swerved off the road before coming to a stop. According to eyewitnesses the woman narrowly missed hitting the driver of another vehicle as she careened out of control.
The elderly woman was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital soon after EMS showed up to the accident site. The driver who rear-ended her was unhurt and remained at the scene of the crash.
Authorities did not say why the first driver struck the woman’s vehicle and no other details were released at the time of this report. The accident is still under investigation.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, commented on the crash. “Rear-end accidents are one of the most dangerous kinds of accidents. Often, when a person is rear-ended they are completely taken off-guard and have not had an opportunity to brace for an impact. Rear-end accidents often lead to serious back and neck injuries. We hope that those involved receive the proper medical care.”
