State police in Kentucky say an 18-year-old Watterson Park resident was killed in a two-vehicle crash that also seriously injured three other people.
The crash happened when a 2011 Jaguar struck a Mitsubishi MPV. The silver Jaguar XJ’s headlight was turned off when it accelerated at an intersection on Glenmary Village Blvd. The Jaguar veered into the opposite lane and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man that was from Watterson Park. Its front end violently collided with the right side of the Mitsubishi MPV headed in the opposite direction.
Police say the crash in the Thixton neighborhood killed one 20-year old passenger in the MPV and injured another passenger. This was a 16-year old teenager. The driver of the MPV also had a teenage passenger who sat in the front seat. This passenger suffered whiplash injuries in the accident. It is not clear if they were using seatbelts at the time of the car accident.
It was reported that the driver of the Jaguar – a 31-year old man – suffered a leg or knee injury in the crash. The injured victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The condition of the three injured people was not immediately available.
The authorities are investigating the crash. This route is partially blocked due to the severity of the crash, causing traffic delays.
Dr. Brian Elias, from The Accident and Injury Team, comments on this crash. “It’s tragic that there was a death and 3 people injured in this accident. It was stated by a witness that the driver of the Ford truck was at fault. We hope that the investigation is quickly finished and that the injuries to those that survived this crash aren’t too severe. If you are unsure of what to do when you’ve been involved in an accident, please give our team a call. We can treat your injuries and also, if you wish, refer you to a very competent attorney in case you have a legal claim.
