Law enforcement officials reported a fatal accident in Miami-Dade that left one person dead and three others injured, including two minors who EMS airlifted to a hospital.
According to a news release, police said a driver lost control of his vehicle along 174th Street and Collins Avenue. Subsequently, the driver slammed into people who waited at the bus stop across the street. The driver allegedly was heading north on AIA.
Authorities confirmed the driver struck four individuals and one person died at the scene. Emergency responders airlifted the other three persons to local hospitals. Their medical condition is unknown at the time of this report.
Police said the victims were a family and that the person who died was a parent. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed two of the victims were minors; paramedics transported them to Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood.
Meanwhile, the driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with officials.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
